TWO YEAR OLD CLASS
Our primary goal in the two year old class is successful separation from their parents and socialization with their peers. We want our students to love coming to school and playing with their friends! Through circle time, music time, and arts and crafts, they develop listening and fine motor skills. Actively engaging during story time and coloring, cutting, and pasting during arts and crafts will help develop concentration and lay the foundation for following directions (all while having fun). We focus on themes based on the world around your child, including seasons, animals, and holidays, as well as shapes, colors and numbers. Snack time is an opportunity for our two year olds to feed themselves and interact with their new friends. Playground time lets them practice running and climbing in a safe fenced in environment. It is not necessary for your two year old to be potty trained to attend our wonderful preschool.
THREE YEAR OLD CLASS
Three years olds are ready to play! Our play-based curriculum encourages exploration and develops social skills as each student interacts with their classmates during play. Themes are reinforced through story and songs at circle time, as well as through their art projects and dramatic play. Students improve their fine motor skills by coloring, gluing, cutting, using manipulatives, working on puzzles and writing their names. Grouping and sorting objects, learning positional words and counting are included in their academic learning. Our three year olds learn to follow classroom routines, clean up their toys and table areas, put on their coats and use the bathroom independently. Outside time includes lots of climbing, playing games and digging in the sandbox.
PRE-K CLASS (4-5 Year Olds)
Pre-K is all about getting ready for kindergarten – socially, emotionally and academically. Center time encourages free choice, task completion, on-going play, self control and positive group dynamics. Letters of the alphabet and their sounds are the main themes, reinforced through stories, songs, art, dramatic play, manipulatives, science, and individual instruction. Our Pre-K students practice writing the letters and sounding out words along with lots of coloring, pasting and cutting. We include pre-math and pre-reading exercises throughout the school year. These “big kids” set up for snack time, clean up, use the bathroom independently and put on their coats, hats and gloves. On the playground, they play games, throw, kick and catch a ball, and enjoy the slides and climbing equipment.
Aftercare Enrichment Class
The afternoon enrichment program is a mixed age preschool class that supplements what has been experienced during the morning classes. The students enjoy a snack, play outside, hear a story, and do an art project related to their weekly themes. We also introduce Spanish to this group daily.
