About the St. Thomas Early Learning Center

We are a state licensed facility that provides play based academic programs for children ages 2 to 5 (Pre-K). We stress rich learning experiences that stimulate children intellectually and socially, giving them an opportunity to master skills while having fun. Children participate at their own level, with dedicated and experienced teachers. Class sizes are very small, with a maximum 1:10 teacher to student ratio.

Our Teachers are qualified preschool professionals who receive annual training in child development and health and safety (including CPR and first aid certification). Additionally, they receive training in abuse prevention required by The Episcopal Church. Each staff member is chosen for her ability to interact positively with children. All staff members undergo state requirements for background checks, and are required to be fully vaccinated prior to the start of school.
Our Curriculum meets the physical, social, emotional and educational needs of each child at their own level of development. Our program includes: pre-reading and pre-math skills; science and problem solving skills; self-help and personal hygiene; fitness through climbing, tumbling and movement, plus daily opportunities to be outside in our private fenced-in playground; music, rhythm, movement, and games; arts and crafts including painting, coloring and cutting; story time, circle time and dramatic play; field trips and special programs (this year dependent on best safe practices as outlined by the State of Virginia).
Spirituality We are an Episcopal Church School. While our orientation is Christian, we welcome all children regardless of faith background and respect all religious traditions. We stress kindness and tolerance of others in our daily life with our students.
We are St. Thomas Episcopal Church in McLean, Virginia. St. Thomas Early Learning Center is our Preschool! Our mission is to provide quality preschool education and affordable child care 5 days a week for children ages 2 through 5 in the Greater Tysons area of McLean, Vienna, Falls Church and Tysons Corner (including the Route 7 Corridor) in Fairfax County, Northern Virginia. We provide a safe, nurturing environment for your child to grow intellectually and advance in their interpersonal skills. Our academic program stresses rich learning experiences that stimulate our students both academically and socially, giving them an opportunity to master skills while having fun. Children participate at their own level, during both structured activities and free play. We have a wonderful staff of highly experienced teachers, a school director with decades of experience, and our Pastor has a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.
